Caerleon
The historic town of Caerleon lies on the River Usk, just 3 miles from Newport and close to the M4 motorway.
Almost two thousand years ago, the Roman Empire dominated the civilised world and in
AD75 the second Augustan Legion spear-headed the final advance into South Wales and founded the Roman Fortress of Isca in Caerleon.
Today, much of Caerleon's historic past can still be seen. The Amphitheatre designed to seat six thousand spectators, the Legionary Barracks, Roman Baths and Museum all stand only a short walk from The Priory.
With the Dark Ages, mystery and romance arrived in the shape of the Court of King Arthur, the Amphitheatre being believed be the legendary 'Round Table'.
Golf The Priory Hotel can arrange golf packages at the Celtic Manor Resort, host of the Ryder Cup 2010. Please call and ask for Miguel to make arrangements or for further information. |
